On Sundays We Write! Head to Toe: Writing About the Body with Anndee Hochman

Tickets $20: Register Here

The body remembers: skinned knees, wiggly teeth, the copper taste of blood. The body retains: stretch marks, that old tattoo, joints that ache in the rain. In this workshop, we'll listen to the body's stories--hilarious, mortifying, absurd, tender, mortal--and write poems or stories or memoirs in response. We'll look at some exceptional texts for inspiration, write with a prompt or two, then have time to share our work aloud. Writers of all ages/abilities welcome.

Anndee Hochman's essays on topics both personal and political appear regularly on WHYY's website, in Purple Clover and Broad Street Review. Her "Parent Trip" column profiling a range of Philadelphia families runs each week in The Inquirer. A freelance writer and teacher for 25 years, Anndee is also the author of "Anatomies: A Novella and Stories" and "Everyday Acts & Small Subversions: Women Reinventing Family, Community and Home."
